Planned respite at the hospice can give families the opportunity to leave their child overnight in a safe environment where they will receive all the specialist care they need, as well as opportunities to socialise and enjoy our facilities.
Families tell us that having a complete break gives them the opportunity to do things they wouldn’t normally be able to do, such as pop to the hairdressers, do some shopping or have some time for themselves. Some families chose to stay at the hospice with their child, in one of the family flats, which allows them to enjoy family time together.
In order that we can provide immediate support to children needing end-of-life care, we need to limit the number of children accessing planned respite stays. Currently there is a waiting list of families who would like planned respite. We will work with your local commissioners to assess if your child is able to access planned respite.
If your child currently has access to assessed nights and you would like to request a respite stay, please email our bookings team.
If your child doesn’t currently have access but you would like to know more about the process and be added to the waiting list, please contact our family support team.
