Volunteer PAT Tester

This Volunteer role involves driving your own car (petrol costs reimbursed) to carry out PAT certification of small electrical items that have been donated to our shops, recording that they are safe to use. They will be then be displayed ready to be sold contributing to raising valuable funds for the charity.

Our network of shops is a vital part of our charity. They help generate the money we need to continue supporting children with life-limiting conditions and their families, and they are also the way many supporters, and supported families, first learn about us.

The role will be carried out in each shop as needed.

Duties and key responsibilities

Be willing to be trained and take a PAT testing qualification (via an external course paid for and organised by Shooting Star Children's Hospices). This includes a short examination.
Carry out every-day functional tests to ensure that the donated appliances are fit for purpose and safe to be sold in various Shooting Star Children’s Hospice retail shops.
Drive own vehicle to our eight shop locations as required
Comply with all SSCH H& S and Risk Assessments policies and procedure

Essential Skills and experience

Vehicle owner with proof of driving licence and insurance required.
Be able to carry out tasks independently but equally be a team player
Friendly and reliable.
Show a good level of common sense and a practical capability
Good communication skills.
Be physically fit with good stamina – lifting, carrying and standing will be required
Expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
