Meet our London Marathon runners!

April 24, 2025

In the lead up to the London Marathon, happening this weekend on Sunday 27 April 2025, we’re so excited to be able to introduce some of our incredible runners! We’ve got some amazing people taking on the 26.2 mile course to support #TeamShootingStar, alongside 28 dedicated staff members and volunteers who will be helping out throughout the weekend.

They’ve been training hard and are in the final stretch, all in aid of Shooting Star – click each person’s name to view their JustGiving page. Please support their fundraising efforts by donating, sharing on social media or amongst friends/family.

Ian Sutton

“Since becoming a dad, my perspective has changed on life. I’m forever grateful that Theo is a happy, healthy 6-year-old, but it’s not lost on me that other children and families are not as fortunate. Shooting Star are real-life superheroes for children and their families that are experiencing things I cannot even fathom, and they rely on donations like yours, and those crazy enough to run the 26.2 miles to help raise those funds.

Despite completing a heap of half marathons and cycling events, the London Marathon has been one of those beasts that has evaded me…until now, and I’m determined to raise as much as I can for Shooting Star, and prove to myself that even in my 40’s, that I can do this. For me, for Theo, and for Shooting Star.”

Kath Conway

For those that know me, know the things I am passionate about include, my family, my London and my job. So what an amazing opportunity to make my family proud, while pounding the streets of my London, passing many spots from my formative years, raising money for the incredible place I work for.

I am fully aware this will be the toughest physical and mental challenge, but know that every single one of you visiting this page and donating, will be another push over the finish line.”

Eliza Buer

Eliza Buer works for one of our corporate partners, Megan’s, and has chosen to run for Shooting Star alongside her colleague Alec!

“I am running the London Marathon in April which has been a godsend in igniting the fire back in my belly! The training is completely different to what I am used to but I am loving learning something new!”

Maddiy Clancy

In 2017, my nephew Cash entered this world at Kingston Hospital. But what should have been a joyful occasion turned into every family’s worst nightmare. My sister experienced a placental abruption during delivery, a terrifying complication that deprived Cash of oxygen for an extended period. By the time he was born, his tiny body was unresponsive, and his heart had stopped beating. A dedicated doctor at Kingston fought tirelessly to bring him back to us, and after 14 excruciating minutes, Cash’s heart finally began to beat again. Yet, the relief was short-lived as the reality of his situation set in. The doctors warned us that his chances of survival were slim, and if he did make it, his future would be uncertain.

And then, something miraculous happened. Cash began to thrive at Shooting Star. One by one, he overcame the hurdles that had once seemed insurmountable. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. The boy who had been given no chance was defying every odd. Now, six years later, Cash is a whirlwind of energy, a determined and fun-loving boy who approaches every challenge with a smile.

He has beaten every prediction, every grim prognosis, and continues to inspire us all with his resilience. Cash is a reminder that miracles do happen, that even in the darkest moments, there is hope.”

We wish all our runners the best of luck, go #TeamShootingStar! If you would like to take on the London Marathon in 2026, why not apply for a place with Shooting Star?
